Convenient parcel service for customers: MediaMarktSaturn integrates parcel shops from DPD and GLS into almost all German stores
06.08.2025 - 11:32
MediaMarktSaturn is expanding its service offerings and integrating parcel shops into nearly all 400 Media Markt and Saturn stores in Germany. Following a successful pilot project in approximately 50 selected stores, customers can now conveniently pick up and send parcels from the parcel services DPD Germany and GLS Germany at an increasing number of locations.
Successful pilot project as a foundation: In the test phase, which began in mid-2023, customers had the option of picking up and sending their parcels at over 50 stores. This service has already been used more than 160,000 times and has been considered a success by all project participants. Based on the positive feedback and high customer demand, the service is being gradually expanded to almost all German stores in cooperation with DPD and GLS.
The national rollout has already begun, and approximately 30 more stores will integrate the parcel services of DPD and GLS in February – bringing the total number of stores in Germany offering this customer-friendly service to over 80. The rollout will continue gradually. Customers can send and collect their parcels either via the online pick-up area or at designated collection zones within the store. The DPD and GLS store locators make it easy to find the nearest store offering parcel shops.

Continuous optimization of the service experience
MediaMarktSaturn maintains regular communication with its partners to further optimize the service experience. The national rollout marks an important step in the development of its service offerings and underscores MediaMarktSaturn's commitment to providing its customers with innovative and user-friendly solutions that simplify their everyday lives.
The partnership with MediaMarktSaturn is also part of DPD and GLS's ambitious goal to establish a dense, nationwide network of shared out-of-home parcel locations. By 2027, the existing infrastructure is expected to expand to 20,000 shared parcel shops and parcel stations.
Stefan Middendorf, Project Manager for the National Rollout of Parcel Shops at MediaMarktSaturn:
“The successful pilot program in over 50 stores has shown that our customers greatly appreciate the convenient parcel service. With the national rollout, we are now extending the service to almost all of our stores in Germany and have two strong partners at our side in DPD and GLS. We are convinced that this customer-friendly service will further simplify the everyday lives of our customers and thus contribute to a better shopping experience.”
Michael Fetten, Out of Home Operations Manager at GLS, explains the objective:
“We want to make sending and receiving parcels, including additional services, as convenient as possible. With MediaMarktSaturn, we have gained a perfect partner for expanding our out-of-home network. This will significantly increase the number of parcel drop-off and pick-up points for GLS and DPD customers within a short period of time. We will soon be able to offer GLS customers 10,000 touchpoints for parcel receiving and sending.”
Jens Haberecht, Group Manager Parcelshop at DPD Germany, emphasizes:
“Close cooperation with retailers is an essential component for us on the path to more parcel drop-off and pick-up points, and thus greater convenience for senders and recipients. As a leading electronics retailer with a strong brand, an extensive market network, and high customer traffic, MediaMarktSaturn is an extremely attractive partner.”
